London Property Manager of the Year 2009 (17/12/2009)
Noella Morton, Senior Block Manager with ARIM, has been crowned London Property Manager of the Year 2009 in the News on the Block Property Management Awards 2009.
Noella is responsible for Du Cane Court in Balham, one of the largest residential blocks in Europe with 676 flats spanning 15 postcodes.
The winners were announced at a glittering evening ceremony in Central London on 7 December 2009.
The award for this category was fiercely contested and all entries had to be independently supported by the residents association or individual leaseholders as well as the freeholder.
The Property Management Awards are unique in that they are the first and only industry event to celebrate the best the industry has to offer in the sector. They were introduced by News on the Block to recognise the excellence and professionalism of all specialists working in this industry both at an individual and company level.
ARIM has extensive experience in managing service charge arrangements for block and estate developments. Well maintained common parts and public areas with appropriate services that are properly budgetted are essential and ensure the asset value is maintained or improved.
ARIM’s service charge and block management services have historically been provided exclusively to ARIM’s investor clients with otherwise tenanted residential investments. However, 2010 will see ARIM actively promoting its block management services to the wider market.
We certainly hope that Noella will retain her title for 2010 and that ARIM will also be recognised in its own right.
Alan Collett Retires From Allsop After 37 Years and Accepts Vice Presidency of The RICS (06/07/2009)
He will continue as Chairman of ARIM, and remain a Consultant to Allsop itself.
Alan Collett is to retire as a partner of Allsop LLP on 1st July 2009 after 37 years with the firm. He will continue as Chairman of ARIM, and remain a Consultant to Allsop itself. The timing coincides with his election as a Vice President of the RICS for the next three years, a role that he is relishing.
Having started as a sales negotiator in the Knightsbridge office in 1972, he later worked in residential valuation and investment and on becoming a partner in 1983 he established a new focus for the Residential Business.
Alan was appointed senior partner in 1996 with a clear vision of the changes that the partnership needed to undergo in order to operate and compete effectively in the market place. He drove the partnership through a series of organisational and cultural changes tenure which changed the firm and reinforced its reputation with both clients and staff and was joined in this task by Neil Mackilligin as Managing Partner in 2001.
In 2006 Alan returned to the Residential Investment market and agreed an ambitious growth programme with the Board of ARIM (Allsop Residential Investment Management). As Chairman of ARIM, and Vice Chairman of the British Property Federation's Residential Committee he will continue to pursue the shared vision of finding the right structures to encourage pension funds to invest in residential investment property.
Alan said "It seems unbelievable that it is 37 years since I first walked through the front door. In 25 years of partnership I have enjoyed and learned from some great working relationships with clients, partners and colleagues alike. I am greatly looking forward to my continuing role at ARIM, where we now manage over 10,000 homes, and to assisting my colleagues at Allsop. In addition I will be using the time that has been freed up to assist other companies and funds in investing in the sector, and managing change in today's challenging environment, as a non executive and consultant. I will also maintain my commitment to the College of Estate Management, and to the Empty Homes Agency as a Trustee and Board member of each organisation. "
Neil Mackilligin, Senior Partner at Allsop added “Alan’s hard work, his dedication to and stewardship of the partnership, his clear thinking and his reputation in the residential marketplace speak for themselves as does the fact that the firm achieved year on year growth in turnover and profit for the 10 years he was senior partner. Alan was of course also very much at the coalface and the sale of The Nationwide portfolio ranks as one of Allsop’s largest deals and crucially produced one of the firm’s biggest ever fee invoices with a celebration to match! To cap it all Alan is also a leading light in both the RICS and BPF.
I am sure you will all join me in thanking him for his considerable efforts and achievements over the years and wish him every success and happiness in his remaining years as a consultant to the firm”
ARIM supports Shelter as part of its anniversary celebrations (20/03/2009)
As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, ARIM is launching a charity appeal to raise funds for Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity.
The 10th anniversary charity appeal will run up to achievement of a fundraising target of £10,000. Activities will be coordinated from each of ARIM’s main offices in Brighton, Leeds and Glasgow. ARIM’s people, clients and suppliers as well as friends and family will be invited to join and support the fundraising efforts. ARIM itself has pledged to match the fundraising efforts of the office with the highest total raised at the point the target has been reached.
Alan Collett, Partner at Allsop LLP and Chairman of ARIM commented:
“ARIM was established in 1999 to provide a professional management service to large scale, professional and institutional investors. The development of our business has far exceeded any initial expectations we had for it and has gone from strength to strength. In the last three years alone, we employ twice as many people and have increased properties under management by 60%to more than 10,000.
“We wanted to do something special to mark ARIM’s ten years of growth - something that could engage ARIM people as well as our clients and suppliers. Our preferred charity had to be housing-related, have national coverage to complement our own business, and be one that resonated with, or would be of benefit to, the wider population. Shelter was the obvious choice.
“As Shelter would say, we are one of the richest countries in the world, yet millions of people in Britain still wake up every day in housing that is run-down, over-crowded or temporary. ARIM does not advocate such bad housing and we shun so-called ‘rogue landlords’. “
Richard Skinner, Business Development Manager at Shelter added:
“We are delighted to have the support of ARIM and are grateful for their commitment to Shelter's work. The money raised from ARIM's fundraising activities will support Shelter's vital work helping homeless households find and keep a safe, permanent home.”
Shelter’s fundraising information pack will guide ARIM people through everything they will need to know, including some great fundraising ideas.
